Getting around Valladolid is a great walking city (except for the sidewalks) but there are also other ways to get around. You can rent bikes and scooters in town by the day or week. Taxis are readily available, convenient and inexpensive (25 - 35 pesos/ride inside the city). You can also catch a "collectivo" (sharing the cost of a taxi) around town or take one to a destination outside the city. There is a also a simple bus route connecting some of the more far-reaching outer neighbourhoods.
Neighbourhood overview The street is similar to others you'll find in many parts of the city, with a variety of houses and small businesses ranging from the humble to the well-appointed but mostly everything in between. The people are friendly and happy to greet you although most don't speak much English. The neighbourhood is safe.
I give my guests space but am available when needed. I'm available to meet you when you arrive, introduce you to the property, give you keys and answer any questions about exploring cenotes or Mayan ruins, biking excursions, bird watching, nature reserves, beaches or gastronomy, to name just a few.
Details that could impact your stay There are 2 other units on the property. There is one private parking space available on a first-come-first-serve basis. There is plenty of street parking. If you have a third person or child with you, we have one double-size, bed-height air mattress available on a first-come-first-serve basis (additional $25/night). We have one travel crib for an infant also available on a first-come-first-serve basis. Our outdoor pool is unheated. We have automatic cleaning systems in place, a pool man that comes 3 x a week to clean and check levels but on occasion, especially on windy days, leaves blow into the pool. If you'd like to go for a swim at night, you can turn on the lights in the pool. The switch is inside the tall cube beside the pool beside the huge traveler palm tree. Open the little wooden door on the back and bring your phone light to find the switch. You are welcome to use any staples you find in the kitchen (oil, sugar etc). Our gardener, Don Jose is on site from 7am - 12 noon Monday-Friday. He doesn't speak English but our guests have found interesting ways to communicate with him nonetheless. We ask him to do a quick tidy of the toilet room each day so hopefully there'll be a convenient time for him do that for you. The BBQ grill is a low charcoal grill - rather rudimentary but it works. The pool has no fence around it so this might not be a suitable place if you have small children who might be unsupervised or can't swim.
Check-in instructions Please be in touch with the host or co-host a day or so in advance to let them know when you'll be arriving so we can make sure we're available to meet you when your arrive.
